A new luxury lodge is opening in the Daintree in December 2026, and the interesting thing about it is not the thread count. It is where they have chosen to put it.
Ever Bloomfield sits on the Bloomfield River, north of the Daintree River crossing, in the stretch of coast where the rainforest runs straight into the reef. Fourteen bungalows and what the operator describes as an open, light filled heart of the lodge, all overlooking the water.
The date has moved, so use this one
You will see November 2026 quoted in a few places. The lodge’s own website says opening December 2026, checked 09/09/2026. Take the operator’s date.
The bit nobody mentions: getting there
This is the practical thing that will decide whether the place is for you, and the marketing understandably does not lead with it.
The Bloomfield Track, the coastal route north from Cape Tribulation, is four wheel drive only. It is unsealed, it crosses creeks, and it closes in the wet. Standard hire car agreements do not permit it, and plenty of people have discovered that at the worst possible moment. The alternative approaches are the inland route via Cooktown, which is long, or flying in.
None of that is a criticism of the lodge. Remoteness is the entire product. But if you are picturing a two hour drive up from Cairns in a rental sedan, adjust the picture, and sort your transfers with the lodge when you book rather than assuming.
What they are offering
The operator, Ever Lodges, describes guided experiences on land, sea and air, including a Great Barrier Reef sea safari and a Cedar Bay coast and country trip. Their material talks about rainforest trails, waterfalls and cultural sites, and about working through partnerships with local community and country.
We are quoting rather than paraphrasing there deliberately. Where a lodge operates on or near Country and describes cultural experiences, the right thing is to let them and the Traditional Owners describe that in their own words rather than us rewording it. If you are booking for the cultural side of it, ask the lodge directly who leads those experiences and who they are partnered with. That is a fair question and a good operator will answer it plainly.
Where it fits
This is the top end of Daintree accommodation and it will be priced accordingly. No rates were published at the time of writing.
For most visitors the Daintree is a day trip or a night or two at Cape Tribulation, and that remains the sensible way to do it. Our Port Douglas and Daintree hub covers the region, and Cape Tribulation has the practical detail on the part of the coast most people actually reach.
We will look at it properly once it is open and taking guests.
