2007 Kamsler Award - Rebecca Bond
I have been working since I was 14 and I haven't looked back. My Dad always told me a bit of hard work never hurt anyone. I spent 4 years doing four laps of Australia Selling a cleaning product door-to-door. I now work two jobs about 65 hours a week. I am a manager at Mini Car Rentals and have been there for 8 years. I love working here, its my life. I also work part-time at the Historic Hambledon Hotel doing pokie promotions and work behind the bar. I know all the locals by their first names.
Over the years I have been nominated 14 times for the Monthly Cairns Tourism Association Awards while working with Mini Car Rentals. I won the Monthly awards in October which was the most fantastic feeling ever! Then to end the year on a big high, I was named the yearly winner for the Kamslers 21st Cairns Tourism Award for 2007 (Pictured). I was absolutely ecstatic and shocked to win such an award for doing something I love. It really warms me to know that people from around the world took time out on their holiday to nominate me for my service in the tourism industry. I Love being a part of the Cairns Tourism Industry and one day look into investing in my own establishment.
